The Angie’s List Super Service Award honors excellence among service providers who maintain superior service ratings and reviews.

To be eligible for the Super Service Award businesses must accomplish the following:

  • Maintain an “A” Rating in each of the following areas:
  • Overall Grade, which averages all reviews received (3.5 GPA)
  • Recent Grade, which averages reviews from the last three years (3.5 GPA)

From Angie’s List:

“Ever drive down the street and see a bumper sticker that says “Angie’s List Super Service Award” and ask yourself: “What the heck is a Super Service Award?”

Every year, Angie’s List gives the Super Service Award to the top A-rated companies in their category, within their market. Angie’s List may give the award, but you determine the winners based on your reviews. Your reviews let us know which companies provide excellent service, and a company must have a minimum number of reviews to qualify.”

“Investment in landscaping into unlandscaped properties increased property values from 5.5 percent to 11.4 percent.  However, very small landscapes didn’t seem to be effective.  The study finds that bigger plants and increasing sophistication of landscape design had a material positive effect on home prices.”  Journal of Environmental Horticulture, 2005

“Investment in landscaping generated an average return on investment of some 258 percent.”  HomeGain ROI survey, 2011

“9 out of 10 real estate agents surveyed recommended sellers invest in some good landscaping to prep their houses for sale” HomeGain ROI survey, 2011

“As an investment, landscaping can increase the value of your property by as much as 20 percent–if it is done well.”  This Old House Magazine, April 2003

“According to a joint study by Clemson University and the University of Maryland, potential home buyers will pay up to 11.3 percent above the asking price for homes with thoughtfully-designed landscaping.”  Mid-Valley Sunday, April 2003

“Make a realistic budget. One rule of thumb is to invest 5 to 10 percent of your house’s worth. If this seems steep, consider that appropriate landscape improvements are estimated to return 100 to 200 percent of their cost when a house is sold.”  American Society of Landscape Architects

Selling your home?

A well-designed landscape can help you sell your home quicker and for a better price.  Consider this advice from www.realestate.com:

“So the data is about as clear and consistent as you can expect from a study measuring something as difficult to measure as comparative home prices.  An investment in landscaping is a proven value-add (just about anywhere except perhaps Louisiana!)

Of course, some houses lend themselves more to landscaping than usual.  You’ll also want to take the standards and norms of the neighborhood into account.  You don’t want to overdo things, either.  So much of real estate presentation is finding the right balance with the home and the neighborhood.”  -Jason Van Steenwyk, June 2012, realestate.com/advice
